Job summary

Airbnb is seeking a Staff Platform Manager to guide the AI Personalization strategy within the CS Platform Product. You will own the full stack from retrieval systems to consumer-facing AI experiences, scaling personalization across Airbnb surfaces.

You will partner with ML, data science, design, and policy to ensure high- quality, scalable personalized interactions, balancing automation with human judgment as needed.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of industry experience with a BS/Masters OR 6+ years with a PhD in AI/ML platforms at consumer scale
• Strong knowledge of personalization systems, contextual data retrieval, and LLM architectures; able to discuss RAG and context engineering tradeoffs with ML engineers
• Track record of building and shipping foundational platform products powering multiple surfaces
• Experience designing and interpreting A/B experiments and online experiment frameworks; own end-to-end metrics for complex AI systems
• Ability to synthesize ambiguous signals into clear, prioritized product decisions
• Proven cross-functional leadership uniting ML, engineering, data science, design, and ops
• Experience shipping consumer AI products with personalization at the core
• Sharp product intuition for AI automation vs human judgment transitions
• Ability to work from system architecture to guest-facing experiences during disputes

Responsibilities

• Contribute toward long-term vision for 10-star personalized support platforms
• Partner with data science, ML, and ops to identify high-signal personalization opportunities
• Own product roadmap across ML models, signals, schemas, and prompt optimization
• Design and measure personalization experiments; define KPIs and translate results into decisions
• Collaborate with ML engineers on requirements for accuracy, latency, and scalability
• Scale personalization infrastructure across Airbnb's AI surfaces
