Job summary

First American is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to drive cross-team technical strategy, architecture, and AI-enabled product development. You will lead large-scale distributed systems, guide platform engineering, and mentor senior engineers to raise the engineering bar across the organization.

You will collaborate with security, product, and architecture teams to modernize our cloud-native platforms while delivering reliable, scalable software that powers real estate AI-native solutions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience designing and building production software systems.
• Demonstrated experience driving architecture across multiple teams, services, or domains.
• Deep experience building cloud-native distributed systems.
• Experience designing and operating production AI systems, including LLM-powered apps.
• Strong experience creating reusable platforms and shared infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Drive Cross-Organization Technical Strategy across teams and domains.
• Build with AI by maturing AI development practices and products.
• Architect complex distributed systems with APIs, events, and cloud infra.
• Raise the engineering bar with standards, reviews, and pragmatic tradeoffs.
• Mentor senior engineers and technical leads to improve system thinking and judgment.
• Drive operational excellence including observability, reliability, and governance.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership to translate strategy into scalable solutions.
