Job summary

8am is seeking a Staff level Engineer to join our AI-focused team, delivering AI features that enhance our product suite. You will collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to bring cutting-edge AI into production and drive meaningful customer outcomes.

You will write Python code, build scalable AI services, and work with our Data and cloud operations teams to deploy, monitor, and improve AI features across the platform.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience in SaaS/backend.
• Proven track record deploying production AI/ML services at scale.
• Hands-on experience with LLM frameworks, platforms, evals and related tooling.
• Strong Python or equivalent language and data manipulation skills.
• Experience building scalable data infrastructure and integrating models into SaaS systems.
• Experience in AWS cloud environments and modern DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Translate business problems into AI-driven solutions with product managers.
• Design, implement, and integrate AI features into existing 8am products.
• Partner with Data team to ensure data is collected, enriched, prepared and staged for AI use.
• Build and evaluate AI-powered services from prototypes to general availability.
• Write high-quality Python code to manipulate data and interact with LLMs.
• Develop tools and infrastructure for reliable, scalable AI deployment.
• Collaborate with cloud operations to deploy AI features and monitor impact.
