8am is seeking a Staff level Engineer in Austin to design and build AI-powered features that enhance our SaaS products. You will collaborate with researchers, product managers and data scientists to move AI from concept to production.

We value a 10+ year track record in software engineering, strong Python skills, and experience deploying AI/ML services at scale in AWS environments. The role focuses on scalable data infrastructure and secure AI deployment across the 8am platform.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience in full stack SaaS or backend.
• Proven track record deploying production-ready AI/ML services at scale.
• Hands-on experience with LLM frameworks, platforms, evals and tooling.
• Strong Python development and data manipulation skills.
• Experience in AWS cloud and modern DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to translate business problems into AI-driven solutions.
• Design, implement, and integrate AI features into existing 8am products.
• Partner with Data team to ensure data is collected, enriched, prepared, and staged for AI use.
• Build and evaluate AI-powered services from prototypes to general availability for customers.
• Write high-quality Python code to manipulate data and interact with large language models.
• Develop tools and infrastructure to support reliable, scalable, and secure AI deployment.
• Work with the cloud operations team to deploy AI features and monitor impact.
