Job summary

Basis is seeking a Staff AI Engineer to lead the AI Core team, specializing in architecting and developing our agentic platform. You will drive重大 design decisions and own the end-to-end orchestration and reliability of Compass, MCP, and A2A integrations.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with Product, QA, Design, Operations, and other teams, and lead large-scale initiatives while nurturing an inclusive, high-performance culture.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience shipping production LLM-powered applications or agent systems.
• Proven track record of technical leadership and owning system direction.
• Expert proficiency in Python and building production APIs/backend services.
• Experience with evaluation/observability tools (Langfuse, LangSmith).
• Mentor engineers and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for Compass and LLM-powered features.
• Lead design/evolution of MCP servers, A2A integrations, and APIs.
• Own agent orchestration, evaluation, and observability in production.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, Design, Operations and other teams.
• Drive large-scale technical projects from ideation to production.
• Mentor engineers and promote collaborative practices.
• Advance AI-assisted and agentic development across Basis Engineering.
