Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Staff AI Engineer to join the People team. You will design, develop, and operate secure, scalable HR tech solutions, automations, and AI workflows that transform manual HR work into production-grade processes.

You will integrate with Workday, Google Suite, Slack, Salesforce, and more, enabling data-driven HR programs and a faster, more reliable employee experience. You’ll lead cross-functional collaboration with IT and HR stakeholders, stay ahead of AI/automation trends, and

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or comparable work experience.
8+ years building and scaling production‑grade enterprise apps and integrations.
Hands-on experience with large language model (LLM) applications, prompt engineering, retrieval‑augmented generation.
Proficiency in Python for scripting, data manipulation and API interaction.
Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, data modeling, and query optimization.
Proficiency with low‑code/no‑code automation platforms and core enterprise platforms.
Strong collaboration and communication with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and operate secure, scalable HR AI tools and automations.
Bridge between HR professionals, people ops, program managers and builders.
Integrate HR systems with core platforms (Workday, Google Suite, Slack, Salesforce, ServiceNow).
Lead data gaps identification and initiatives to close them.
Evaluate emerging technologies and propose AI/automation opportunities.
Provide end-user support, documentation, and training for HR tech systems.
Champion Samsara’s cultural principles while scaling globally.
