Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Staff AI Engineer to join the IFX team in advancing AI at enterprise scale. You will partner with engineers, researchers, and product managers to build AI-powered products that reimagine customer experiences and internal workflows.

You will design and deploy AI software components, optimize foundation model performance, and contribute to the long-term AI architecture roadmap while championing responsible AI practices across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of AI/ML algorithm or technology experience, or Master's with at least 6 years of AI/ML experience.
• At least 8 years of experience programming with Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including model training and inference.
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, PyTorch.
• Invent and optimize foundation model techniques to improve performance (cost, latency, throughput).
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems at Capital One.
• Set enterprise-wide AI architecture direction and deployment standards across teams.
• Own the design and integration of model routing, caching, and orchestration for hybrid workloads.
• Champion responsible AI principles including transparency and fairness-by-design.
