Job summary

Capital One in New York, NY is seeking an AI Engineer 4 to join the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences (IFX) team to build scalable, responsible AI systems for banking. You will partner with engineers, researchers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products that transform how customers interact with Capital One.

You will design and optimize foundation models, apply PyTorch, VectorDBs, and related tech, and drive governance, observability, and performance tuning across production

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in CS/AI/EE/CE or related field with 4+ years AI/ML experience or 2 years with a Master.
• Proficient in Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java (4+ years).

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including training, inference, agents, and governance.
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, PyTorch.
• Invent optimization techniques to improve performance, scalability, latency, and cost.
• Define the technical vision and roadmaps for foundational AI systems at Capital One.
• Own end-to-end architecture for complex AI systems with observability and security.
• Collaborate with infrastructure to optimize GPU/TPU usage and model inference pipelines.
• Lead cross-functional reviews for new AI deployments and mentor junior team members.
