Trustly is seeking a Staff AI Enablement Engineer to lead the design and scaling of our AI platform. You will work across product, engineering, and data teams to embed AI capabilities into payments, fraud detection, and developer tooling, while shaping the technical roadmap and standards for high-availability AI systems.

The role emphasizes hands-on building, architectural judgment, and mentoring other engineers in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years focused on AI/ML systems, LLM infrastructure, or applied ML in production environments.
• Deep hands-on experience building with LLMs and modern AI stacks — including RAG, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, function calling, and multi-step agentic workflows.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: write clean, production-grade code and design systems that are observable, testable, and maintainable.
• Experience operating at Staff+ scope—driving technical decisions that span multiple teams, mentoring other engineers, and leading by influence.
• Track record of taking AI capabilities from prototype to production in a high-reliability environment—understanding the gap between a demo and something that runs at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain Trustly's AI platform, including LLM integration, prompts, evaluation pipelines, and agentic tooling.
• Embed AI in core products—payments, risk, fraud, tooling, and customer surfaces.
• Set up evaluation standards for AI systems: quality, safety, latency, cost, reliability.
• Lead discovery and prototyping on foundation models and toolchains, with data-driven recommendations.
• Create reusable libraries, docs, and enablement resources to speed AI adoption.
• Collaborate with leadership to shape the AI roadmap and align engineering constraints.
