Job summary

Root is seeking a Staff Software Engineer focused on AI to define technical direction, lead multi-team initiatives, and enable AI in real workflows across our AI Platform and AI Enablement squads. You will shape secure, scalable AI-enabled systems and mentor engineers while balancing risk, cost, and impact.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in software engineering, 3+ years leading teams, deep cloud experience (AWS), and hands-on AI enablement experience to translate experiments into production

Qualifications

7+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of leading software teams or major technical initiatives.
Strong systems and product judgment with ability to frame ambiguous problems and turn learning into reusable capabilities.
Experience with AI/LLM technologies and responsible, scalable use.
Depth in cloud/platform architecture and production operations (AWS, Terraform, secure delivery).

Responsibilities

Set a multi-quarter technical direction for AI-enabled systems and durable investments.
Lead cross-team initiatives from framing through architecture, implementation, and measurable outcomes.
Connect user workflows to shared services and platform strategy for scalable solutions.
