Job summary

Retail Sports Marketing, Inc. is seeking a detailed Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure timely financial processes.

The role emphasizes hands-on financial reporting, reconciliations, and project accounting in a fast-paced agency environment. The Staff Accountant will work across departments to resolve discrepancies, strengthen internal controls, and support audits, with a focus on QuickBooks and advanced Excel to analyze data

Qualifications

• 3–5 years accounting experience, preferably in small to mid-sized business.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience considered
• Strong hands-on proficiency in QuickBooks required
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, and data analysis
• Solid understanding of GAAP, general ledger accounting, and month-end close
• Experience preparing financial reports and supporting AP/AR processes
• Attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple deadlines
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion

Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and accurate financial recordkeeping
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes and prepare supporting schedules
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing and payment tracking
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial transactions
• Assist with expense reports, vendor payments, and employee reimbursements
• Maintain accurate accounting records in QuickBooks with proper coding
• Prepare financial reports and analyze data in Excel (pivot tables, lookups)
• Assist with budget tracking, expense analysis, and variances
• Support client and project financial tracking, billing, and profitability reporting
• Research discrepancies, identify root causes, and propose corrections
• Partner with Operations, Account Management, HR, and Leadership
• Provide timely responses to accounting questions from internal stakeholders
• Improve financial accuracy, internal controls, documentation, and workflows
• Assist with audit prep, tax documentation, and compliance requests
• Perform additional accounting and finance duties as needed
• Leverage AI-powered tools to streamline processes and drive efficiencies
