Responsibilities

• Process progress billings, time & materials billings, unit-price billings, and change orders.
• Partner with Project Managers to ensure accurate customer billing.
• Monitor accounts receivable and assist with collections.
• Review job costs and support project cost reporting.
• Reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts and intercompany transactions.
• Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and support financial reporting.

Job description

Our client, a well-established construction contractor, is seeking a Project Accountant to join its accounting team. This role supports project accounting, customer billings, job costing, month-end close, and financial reporting while partnering closely with project managers and operations.

The ideal candidate has experience in construction or project-based accounting and is proficient with Viewpoint (Vista). Responsibilities

• Process progress billings, T&M billings, unit-price billings, and change orders
• Partner with Project Managers to ensure timely and accurate customer billing
• Monitor accounts receivable and assist with collections
• Review job costs and support project cost reporting
• Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and intercompany transactions
• Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close
• Maintain accurate accounting records and support financial reporting
• Assist with vendor setup and other accounting functions as needed

Qualifications

• Accounting experience within the construction industry or other project-based accounting environment
• Hands-on experience with Viewpoint (Vista) ERP software
• Experience with job costing, project billing/progress billing, and month-end close
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles and account reconciliations
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience (preferred)
• Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to work onsite full-time in Troy, MO
