Job summary

The San Mateo County Event Center (SMCEC) is seeking a Staff Accountant to manage payroll administration, fixed asset accounting, and financial reporting for a dynamic public assembly facility. This role requires accuracy, strong organization, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Reporting to the Controller, you will support general ledger activities, month-end close, budgets, and annual audits, while maintaining strong internal controls in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5–7 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Payroll experience and tax compliance preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Maintain payroll administration and related reporting.
• Oversee fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules.
• Prepare financial reports and support month-end and year-end close.
• Assist with budgets, forecasts, and audit preparation.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and internal controls.
