Job summary

Salem Media is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support cash posting, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting across the organization. The role involves tracking programmatic revenue, collaborating with leadership, and ensuring GAAP compliance.

The ideal candidate has 3–5+ years of accounting experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, and strong Excel skills. This on-site position in Camarillo, CA offers competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of accounting experience including journal entries and month-end close.
•     
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is required.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills required.
• Experience with accounting software and financial systems required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries as part of the monthly close process.
• Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts and roll forward schedules.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including financial analysis and reporting.
• Assist with quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements.
• Process and post cash receipts and accounts receivable transactions.
• Track, analyze, and report programmatic revenue activity.
• Perform accounts receivable analysis and reporting.
• Maintain deferred revenue roll forwards and related reconciliations.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data and supporting documentation.
• Analyze general ledger activity and investigate variances or discrepancies.
• Prepare account reconciliations and maintain supporting schedules.
• Assist with fixed assets, intangibles, and property tax accounting as needed.
• Support compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
• Interface with station leadership and internal departments during monthly closing processes.
• Collaborate with accounting team members on special projects and process improvements.
• Provide support for audits, reporting requests, and operational finance initiatives.
• Assist management with additional accounting and finance responsibilities as assigned.
