Job summary

Coastal Waste & Recycling Inc. seeks a Staff Accountant to join a fast-paced team. You will support financial integrity, perform reconciliations, and drive process improvements across Accounting, Customer Experience, Operations, and Maintenance.

This role involves traveling to Coastal locations to partner with field leadership and ensure accurate billing and cost controls. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and experience with COUPA/TRUX or similar

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years accounting, financial analysis, auditing, or related experience.
• Strong Excel and analytical abilities, attention to detail.
• Experience with ERP/accounting software and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Perform operational and financial audits to ensure accuracy of customer billing and transactions.
• Conduct route audits and review data for accuracy and timeliness.
• Monitor disposal tonnage quotas and analyze utilization trends.
• Review and close COUPA purchase orders.
• Support maintenance spend reporting and identify automation opportunities.
• Review vendor billing and intercompany transactions for accuracy.
• Validate disposal rates and customer billing within systems.
• Audit corporate credit card transactions and expense allocations.
• Review disposal charges and rebates for proper allocation and timely processing.
• Assist with weekly arrears billing and customer payment investigations.
• Prepare reconciliations, reports, and analyses to support decisions.
• Propose process improvements to strengthen controls and efficiency.
