Americo Financial Life and Annuity is hiring a full-time Staff Accountant to join our expanding team in downtown Kansas City, MO. The role operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on-site at our Kansas City office.

The position supports general accounting, prepares monthly accruals, analyzes expenses, and assists with quarterly and annual financial schedules within established timeframes. Candidates should have a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance and experience with GL systems such as

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field.
Solid understanding of accruals, debits, credits, balance sheets and income statements.
Experience with general ledger systems (Oracle Fusion, Workday, NetSuite, PeopleSoft, Navision) and ability to research issues with system queries.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, SUMIF).

Responsibilities

Review monthly department spending and prepare journal entries for close.
Provide monthly spending reports to department managers and assist with budget reviews.
Review depreciation, prepare monthly allocations and reconciliations.
Process expense reports, support for invoices, use tax filings and unclaimed property processing.
Prepare and review tax returns and annual filings.
Prepare quarterly/annual exhibits and schedules for financial statements.
Analyze expenses and allocations to ensure financial statement accuracy.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and special projects.
