Job summary

Security Bank of Kansas City is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the bank's accounting and finance functions, including general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in accounting and financial reporting, preferably within a financial institution environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Accounting foundation is required, along with Excel and data analytics skills.

Responsibilities

• Support accounting and reconcilement activities related to bank operations, including deposits, loans, investments, borrowing, fixed assets, accruals, and prepaids.
• Prepare general ledger postings and daily/monthly journal entries; assist with review and reconciliation.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, working with business units.
• Assist in data analytics to identify trends, variances, and KPIs across lines of business.
• Assist in preparation of regulatory filings, including FFIEC Call Report.
• Assist with monthly close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting docs.
• Use Excel (pivot tables, formulas) to support financial models, data analysis, reconciliations, reporting.
• Maintain audit trails and supporting documentation for reconciliations and reports.
• Assist business units with accounting questions, reporting support, variance explanations, and other financial matters.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
