Job summary

UChicago Medicine is seeking a Staff Accountant, Non Hospital Clinical Operations to join the Finance Department. This hybrid role combines work from home with onsite time and involves preparing monthly journal entries, reconciling accounts, and supporting audits.

The role partners with operations and the finance team to provide timely financial results, budgeting support, and ad hoc reporting. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance and 2–3 years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance.
• 2-3 years of relevant experience in financial reporting and accounting.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and concepts including Revenue, Prepaids, Accruals, Inventory.
• Familiarity with regulations and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in financial analysis, reporting tools, and Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; able to work independently and in a team.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Advanced computer skills with spreadsheets and databases.
• Knowledge of large-scale ERP systems and transaction flows.
• Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills; able to present data clearly.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end close and post monthly journal entries following GAAP.
• Prepare monthly account analyses and reconciliations and explain variances.
• Provide monthly financial reporting and analysis to operational leaders and management.
• Support internal and external audit activities and prepare audit work papers.
• Recommend improvements to close processes and ERP usage, including AI applications.
• Execute special projects to support department growth.
