Job summary

UChicago Medicine seeks a Staff Accountant for Hospital Operations to manage month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting within a healthcare environment. The role partners with the finance team to deliver timely and accurate information for budget and audit activities.

This position offers primarily remote work with mandatory on-site presence 1–2 days per week at Burr Ridge, IL, and may be based outside the greater Chicagoland area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting and finance.
• 2–3 years of financial reporting and accounting experience.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and understanding of Revenue, Prepaids, Accruals, Inventory.
• Proficiency with Excel and ERP systems.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform month end close responsibilities including posting monthly journal entries per GAAP.
• Prepare monthly account analyses and reconciliations with variance explanations.
• Provide monthly financial reporting and analysis to operational leaders and Sr. management.
• Support internal, external and regulatory audit activities including work papers and statements.
• Suggest improvements to close processes and ERP usage; support budgeting and ad hoc reports.
