Canteen, a Compass Group company, is hiring a Staff Accountant in Madison, Wisconsin. This in-office role supports accounts payable/receivable and month-end close processes within a multi‑line business including vending, market, and office coffee service.

The position requires an associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting and 1–3 years of accounting experience, with strong Excel skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
• 1-3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience required.
• Experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including lookup formulas and pivot tables.

Responsibilities

• Support accounts receivable activities
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports
• Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation
• Perform monthly inventory reconciliations
• Manage P-card activity and supporting documentation
• Process customer commissions
• Participate in cash room activities, including petty cash reconciliation and cash management
• Assist with fixed asset tracking and management
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies
• Support audits, compliance activities, data entry, and special projects as assigned
