Job summary

Sherpa is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support diverse accounting functions including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close. You will collaborate with Payroll, Accounts Payable, Operations, and Finance to ensure accurate reporting and timely payments.

The role emphasizes adherence to policies, cross-functional communication, and internal controls, with a focus on professional growth in a full-time capacity in the Charlotte area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 2+ years of accounting or finance experience.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, account analysis, and month-end close.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; SAP experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Perform month-end close activities and ensure balance sheet accounts are reconciled.
• Analyze financial data, investigate discrepancies, and research variances for accuracy.
• Review and interpret contractual agreements for proper accounting treatment.
• Coordinate with Payroll, Accounts Payable, Operations, and Finance to resolve issues.
• Prepare payments, supporting documentation, and financial reports per guidelines.
• Audit financial transactions for accuracy, completeness, and internal controls.
• Provide customer service and liaison between internal and external stakeholders.
