Job summary

O’Reilly Auto Parts is seeking a Staff Accountant I to deliver timely and accurate financial reporting by recording journal entries, performing reconciliations, and conducting variance analyses in line with GAAP and SOX controls.

This role requires a B.S. in Accounting and proficiency in MS Word and Excel, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work with limited supervision. You will support internal and external audits and collaborate with finance and operations to improve processes.

• Assist annual budgeting and provide enhanced reporting to management.
• Collaborate with finance and operations to improve processes and respond to requests.

Job description

The Staff Accountant I position will primarily be responsible for delivering timely and accurate financial reporting through recording journal entries, performing account reconciliations and variance analysis, and ensuring processes are completed in compliance with SOX controls. Provides excellent service to field and operational teams when addressing issues and questions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Journal Entries and Reconciliation

Timely preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations in accordance with GAAP and O’Reilly accounting policies.

Resolve issues and make corrections as necessary.

Ensure compliance with SOX controls and maintain supporting control process documentation.

Assist internal and external audit processes as necessary.

Reporting and Analysis

Generate reporting and analysis as required by management.

Monthly analysis of various balance sheet accounts.

Monthly analytical review and reasonableness tests of various income and expense accounts.

Analysis of budget to actual variances.

Research and correct errors detected.

Budgeting and Communication

Assist in annual budgeting process through development of estimates, tools, and reporting.

Provide a high level of service to operational groups and departments through prompt and thorough responses to financial questions and requests for enhanced reporting.

Collaborate with team members inside and outside of finance to improve processes and operations.

Assist management with special projects as needed.

Assist other members of the Finance department as needed.

Other duties as assigned.
