Job summary

Mercy Housing is seeking a Staff Accountant I to update and evaluate the reasonableness of information in financial statements and related schedules. This role offers a hybrid work schedule and is based in the United States.

The incumbent will prepare narratives and supporting schedules, assist with budgets, and support annual audits while ensuring accuracy and timeliness. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and 1–2 years of accounting experience; public or

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile bank accounts accurately and timely, with attention to unusual items that remain outstanding at month end.
  • Research historical accounting transactions and reconcile differences between A/P or A/R modules and G/L module.
  • Prepare periodic financial statements within assigned time limits and accuracy standards, as directed by the Accounting Manager.
  • Create narratives explaining financial statements released to users.
  • Prepare financial statement related reports.
  • Perform reporting required by outside agencies.
  • Assist in preparation of budgets and schedules for annual audit.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Staff Accountant I is responsiblefor updating and evaluating for reasonableness the information presented in financial statements, narratives, and other accompanying schedules to the financial statements for any reporting entities assigned. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

Pay: $28.85-30.77/hour

Duties

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 1-2 years of accounting experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in public or industry accounting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
