Job summary

UpSwell LLC is seeking a Staff Accountant in Marietta, GA. This hybrid, full-time role supports the Controller and Accounting team with monthly close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

The ideal candidate has 4–5 years of corporate accounting experience, a solid GAAP foundation, strong Excel skills, and comfort working independently in a growing marketing agency environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 4–5 years of professional accounting experience.
• Solid understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close procedures.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Strong Excel skills (pivot, lookups, data analysis).
• Experience with Sage is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post monthly journal entries in Sage with supporting documentation.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals and financial reporting.
• Record and reconcile incoming manual payments.
• Process and manage accounts payable and vendor reconciliations.
• Maintain PO-related expense records and vendor reconciliations.
• Assist with audits by preparing schedules and documentation.
• Apply GAAP and accounting policies to daily transactions.
• Review transactions for accuracy and investigate anomalies.
• Identify improvements to accounting processes and internal controls.
