Job summary

Respondology, based in Boulder, CO, seeks a detail-driven Staff Accountant to own day-to-day books: AR, AP, reconciliations, revenue recognition under GAAP, and month-end close. This is the first in-house accounting hire and reports to the CFO.

You will collaborate with Sales and Customer Success on invoicing and collections, help build scalable processes, and support budgeting and forecasting as the finance function grows. The role is hybrid with a strong growth path.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of full-cycle accounting in a startup or SaaS environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP with ownership of core accounting processes: GL, AP, AR, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Experience with revenue recognition and financial statements for a SaaS business (ASC 606).

Responsibilities

• Own accounts receivable end-to-end: invoicing, applying cash deposits, and driving collections.
• Manage customer invoicing in Tabs, ensuring bills go out accurately and on time.
• Process accounts payable, including vendor invoices, payment runs, and AP inbox management.
• Serve as the first point of contact for the shared accounting inbox with internal and external queries.
• Own revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP and ensure timely, accurate recognition.
• Prepare monthly reconciliations for bank, credit card, and expenses, plus key agency partner accounts.
• Independently manage the month-end close and produce financial statements and internal reports for leadership.
• Maintain a clean general ledger with documentation to support audits, tax filings, and compliance.
• Partner with fractional CFO to transition day-to-day accounting processes in-house and document workflows.
• Identify inefficiencies in accounting workflows and propose improvements, including data cleanliness and automation.
• Contribute to budgeting and forecasting and share insights with cross-functional teams.
• Assist in onboarding future accounting teammates as the function grows.
