Job summary

GHJ is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its General Accounting team in Newport Beach. This role focuses on month-end close, reconciliations, financial analysis and ledger maintenance, with opportunities to broaden technical skills and collaborate across departments.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting or related field and 2–3 years of progressive accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, advanced Excel, and proficiency with accounting software.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2–3 years of progressive accounting experience.
Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software.
Experience with Concur, Great Plains, or Business Central preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
Manage assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts.
Prepare supporting schedules and account reconciliations, including prepaid accounts and bank reconciliations.
Support expense reporting and purchase requisition processes.
Assist with accounts payable activities as needed.
Participate in year-end audit preparation and special projects.
Help improve accounting processes and support accurate financial reporting.
