Canteen, a division of Compass Group, is hiring a Staff Accountant to provide accounting and operational support across Vending, Market, and Office Coffee Service. This role suits someone detail-oriented, organized, and eager to grow within an operations-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
• 1-3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience required.
• Experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including lookup formulas and pivot tables.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize competing responsibilities.
• Strong communication skills and a willingness to ask questions and learn.
• Positive attitude, initiative, and desire for professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Support accounts receivable activities
• Assist with payroll duties
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports
• Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation
• Perform monthly inventory reconciliations
• Manage P-card activity and supporting documentation
• Process customer commissions
• Participate in cash room activities, including petty cash reconciliation and cash management
• Assist with fixed asset tracking and management
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies
• Support audits, compliance activities, data entry, and special projects as assigned
