Job summary

Philz is seeking a Staff Accountant who will own several steps of the accounting cycle, contribute to month-end close, and connect store and supply chain results to leadership. The role emphasizes accuracy, process improvement, and mentoring junior team members.

We require 2+ years of GL experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and ERP proficiency. The position is remote within the Greater Los Angeles area, with plans for a hybrid office move in 2026.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 2+ years of general ledger accounting experience; multi-unit retail/restaurant/franchise experience preferred.
• Solid working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control concepts.
• Advanced Excel skills; hands-on experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP) and POS/reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Own journal entries for accruals, prepaids, payroll, revenue, and intercompany activity.
• Lead month-end close tasks and meet close calendar deadlines.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
• Reconcile store-level revenue, tender types, and third-party platform settlements to GL.
• Support inventory and COGS accounting, including variance analysis.
