Job summary

Clearbrook Group Holdings Inc., through its operating subsidiaries, seeks a Staff Accountant to join the New York finance team. The role specializes in US statutory financial statements and GAAP reporting, delivering high-quality statements with clear analyses.

You will support month-end close, reconciliations, audits, and process improvements while collaborating with cross-functional partners to strengthen internal controls. A bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field
• 2+ years of accounting, audit, or financial reporting experience
• Knowledge of U.S. GAAP; exposure to insurance accounting or statutory reporting is a plus
• Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle and reporting tools such as Workiva is preferred
• Strong Excel skills, including pivots, lookups, and data analysis
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Support the month-end and quarter-end close process by preparing journal entries and maintaining supporting documentation.
• Prepare reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts and investigate variances.
• Assist with the preparation of U.S. GAAP and statutory financial reports and related schedules.
• Maintain accounting workpapers and documentation that support internal and external reporting requirements.
• Perform intercompany reconciliations and assist in resolving outstanding differences.
• Support internal and external audits by gathering requested documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and established accounting policies and procedures.
• Assist with accounting research and implementation of accounting guidance as directed by management.
• Participate in process improvement and automation initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborate with finance and business partners to support reporting and operational needs.
