Job summary

Clearbrook Group Holdings Inc., based in New York, seeks a Staff Accountant to join the finance team. The role focuses on preparing and analyzing US statutory financial statements and GAAP reporting in a collaborative environment.

You will support month-end close, reconciliations, intercompany accounting, audits, and process improvements, with emphasis on accuracy and timely reporting. A bachelor’s degree and 2+ years’ experience are required; Oracle/Workiva and Excel skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
• 2+ years of accounting, audit, or financial reporting experience.
• Knowledge of U.S. GAAP; exposure to insurance accounting or statutory reporting is a plus.
• Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle and reporting tools such as Workiva is preferred.
• Strong Excel skills, including pivots, lookups, and data analysis.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the month-end and quarter-end close process by preparing journal entries and maintaining supporting documentation.
• Prepare reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts and investigate variances.
• Assist with the preparation of U.S. GAAP and statutory financial reports and related schedules.
• Maintain accounting workpapers and documentation that support internal and external reporting requirements.
• Perform intercompany reconciliations and assist in resolving outstanding differences.
• Support internal and external audits by gathering requested documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and established accounting policies and procedures.
• Assist with accounting research and implementation of accounting guidance as directed by management.
• Participate in process improvement and automation initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborate with finance and business partners to support reporting and operational needs.
