Job summary

Churchill Downs Incorporated in New Orleans is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the finance team with the preparation of financial reports, asset and liability tracking, and tax liabilities.

You will prepare journal entries, assist with statements and management reports, ensure GAAP compliance, analyze data, reconcile accounts, and help strengthen internal controls. Office/casino environment; 21+ and racing license eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• At least 1 year of experience in accounting or finance.
• Must be 21+ and able to obtain racing and gaming licenses.
• Office/casino environment familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepares journal series for input to the General Ledger and accounting sub-systems.
• Assists with preparing financial statements and management reports.
• Support GAAP compliance and regulatory reporting cycles.
• Analyze data, reconcile accounts, and make timely adjustments.
• Strengthen internal controls and maintain reporting systems.
• Assist auditors by gathering requested documents.
• Manage tax compliance tasks and filings.
• Collaborate with regulators and stakeholders.
