Job summary

Blue Chip Talent in Michigan seeks a Staff Accountant to maintain general ledger integrity, perform reconciliations, and support budgeting and reporting across multiple projects and funding sources.

You will handle journal entries, month-end close, and grant accounting tasks using PeopleSoft, with emphasis on GAAP/FASB guidance. A 3–5+ year background and a Master’s in accounting are highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 3–5+ years of professional accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, debits/credits and journal entries.
• Extensive experience with account reconciliations and discrepancy resolution.
• Excel proficiency including VLOOKUP and large data analysis.
• Experience with PeopleSoft or comparable ERP system.
• Knowledge of GAAP/FASB standards.
• Experience with financial reporting, month-end close and general accounting processes.
• Masters degree in Accounting/Finance or related field favorable.
• Grant accounting, federal grants or nonprofit accounting experience desirable.
• Familiarity with federal grants compliance (2 CFR Part 200).
• Experience with FFTRs and FSRS is a plus.
• Power BI for financial analysis/reporting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform general ledger reconciliations, post journal entries, and analyze debits/credits to maintain accurate records.
• Review and reconcile financial transactions, balances, and supporting documents.
• Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and identify discrepancies.
• Prepare financial reports, analyses, and documentation for internal/external reporting.
• Maintain accounting records and process transactions using PeopleSoft.
• Support month-end close, cost allocations, and reporting processes.
• Apply GAAP and 2 CFR Part 200 standards to daily accounting activities.
• Assist with audits, budget analysis, and reconciliation of high-volume transactions.
