Job summary

RemX | The Workforce Experts is seeking a General Accountant in Chicago with a minimum of three years of General Accounting experience. The role focuses on maintaining the general ledger, preparing journal entries, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, strong GAAP knowledge, and advanced Excel skills. Experience with ERP systems and Sage is a plus, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities and

Qualifications

Minimum of three years of General Accounting experience.
Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and practices.
Understanding of GAAP and standard accounting procedures.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

Maintain the general ledger and accurately record financial transactions.
Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
Perform bank reconciliations and ensure financial records are accurate and up to date.
Support budgeting processes and oversee payroll-related activities, invoice processing, and payment tracking.
Prepare financial reports and provide insights on budgets, revenue, expenditures, and outstanding obligations.
Review financial data and transactions to ensure compliance with internal policies and accounting procedures.
Investigate and resolve account discrepancies and financial variances.
Maintain organized financial documentation and records using accounting and database management systems.
