Job summary

The McPherson Companies is seeking a Staff Accountant to handle general accounting tasks, journal entries, and month-end close support across multiple locations and product lines. The role also oversees fixed asset accounting, depreciation, asset tracking, and assists with budgeting, audits and financial reporting under the guidance of the Controller and VP of Finance.

Required: Bachelor’s in accounting, 2+ years’ experience, ERP exposure (Oracle/JD Edwards), strong Excel, and excellent

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required; CPA or MBA preferred.
• 2+ years’ experience in a multi-location, product-line environment.
• Experience with ERP systems; Oracle/JD Edwards helpful.
• Proficient in Excel and financial analysis.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for day-to-day accounting, reporting and analysis for assigned business units and related product lines
• Prepare journal entries
• Prepare analysis of accounts as requested
• Reconcile cash accounts on a monthly basis
• Assist in monthly close procedures and production of monthly financial statements within scheduled deadlines
• Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations of all assigned accounts accurately and within scheduled deadlines
• Oversee the accurate recording and tracking of all fixed assets, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.
• Prepare and maintain detailed schedules of fixed assets, including summaries of capital expenditures, depreciation, and asset disposal.
• Assist Controller in preparing annual budget and underlying calculations
• Provide requested information and assist Controller in preparing for/completing bi-annual bank and annual financial statement audits and tax returns
• Complete other duties and projects as requested by Controller, VP of Finance or other members of management team
