Job summary

Giga Energy is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Finance team in Houston. You’ll own core GL components, drive a clean monthly close, and support reporting at the highest levels.

You’ll work with a lean, high-performing team focused on building financial infrastructure at pace. This role operates in an in-office environment with full-time onsite expectations, and bi-weekly Fridays of remote work are allowed.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting principles.
• Hands-on experience with month-end close processes including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics or similar).
• CPA license or active CPA candidate.
• Experience in a high-growth startup or manufacturing/industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain assigned general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of journal entries on a monthly basis.
• Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process including accruals, prepaid amortization, and recurring journal entries.
• Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve variances in a timely manner.
• Assist in the preparation of internal financial statements and management reporting packages.
• Maintain fixed asset schedules including additions, disposals, depreciation, and reconciliation to the general ledger.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed, including coding, approvals, and cash application.
• Assist with sales tax filings, 1099 preparation, and other compliance obligations.
• Provide supporting documentation and schedules for external audits and tax preparation.
