Job summary

Carolina Professional Recruiting Group partnered with a growing, private equity-backed organization to hire a Staff Accountant for its corporate accounting team. This role provides hands-on experience across the general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, and audit support.

You’ll collaborate with experienced professionals, learn the “why” behind the numbers, and contribute ideas to improve processes as the organization evolves. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• One to two years of progressive accounting experience; Big Four or national public accounting firm experience preferred.
• CPA designation or progress toward certification preferred.
• Knowledge of general accounting principles and applicable compliance requirements.
• ERP experience and intermediate Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookups.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and sound judgment when handling confidential information.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• A proactive approach to learning, meeting deadlines, and working both independently and with a team.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of GAAP‑compliant financial statements and reports, including identifying trends and variances.
• Reconcile operating cash accounts and record daily cash receipts and payments in the general ledger.
• Assist with month‑end close by preparing journal entries and accruals, researching discrepancies, and resolving questions.
• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for external audits.
• Work with other departments to support timely, accurate financial reporting.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency.
• Maintain organized accounting records and assist with special projects.
