Job summary

A Charlotte-based, private equity-backed organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to strengthen the corporate accounting team. The role offers exposure beyond the monthly close, including financial analysis, technical accounting research, process improvements and cross-functional initiatives.

The ideal candidate will own key close activities, participate in special projects and help scale the accounting infrastructure as the company grows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Strong month-end close, journal entries and reconciliations.
• Public accounting experience and/or corporate accounting experience; solid GAAP knowledge.
• CPA or CPA candidate a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals and reconciliations.

We are partnering with a growing, private equity-backed organization in Charlotte to identify a strong Senior Accountant to join its corporate accounting team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys the technical foundation of accounting but wants exposure beyond simply completing the monthly close. The Senior Accountant will own key areas of the close while also getting involved in financial analysis, technical accounting research, process improvements, cross-functional initiatives and special projects.

The company continues to grow both organically and through acquisition and is investing in its accounting infrastructure, technology and people. They are looking for someone who can contribute immediately while continuing to develop into larger responsibilities as the organization grows.

Key Responsibilities

• Own assigned month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities
• Prepare journal entries, accruals and account reconciliations
• Analyze account activity and investigate significant or unusual variances
• Prepare schedules and analyses supporting financial reporting
• Research accounting matters and document conclusions in accordance with GAAP
• Support internal controls and internal/external audit requests
• Partner with teams across the organization on accounting and financial matters
• Identify opportunities to improve and automate accounting processes
• Participate in special projects and initiatives tied to continued company growth

Ideal Background

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
• Strong foundation in month-end close, journal entries and account reconciliations
• Public accounting experience and/or corporate accounting experience
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
• CPA or CPA candidate is a plus
• Strong Excel and analytical skills
• Comfortable leveraging technology, automation and AI-enabled tools
• Proactive, collaborative and comfortable working in a growing, fast-paced environment
