Job summary

United Utility Services is seeking a Staff Accountant in Charlotte, NC to oversee daily accounting operations, ensure accuracy and compliance, and support audits and tax filings. The role collaborates with multiple departments to align financial activities with company goals.

The position focuses on financial reporting, month-end close, and process improvements, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, timelines, and cross-functional teamwork.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA certification in-progress is a plus.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP with high attention to detail.
• Experience with Sage 300 and Power BI is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Primary responsible for accounts payable and weekly check runs.
• Prepare weekly subcontractors payments ensuring COI, subcontracts, and ROL compliance.
• Perform month-end and year-end close, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Assist with tax filings and support internal/external audits.
• Identify process improvements in accounting operations.
