Job summary

United Utility Services, LLC is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage daily accounting operations, ensure GAAP compliance, and support audits and tax filings. You will prepare financial statements, manage accounts payable/receivable, and collaborate with other departments to align financial operations with corporate goals.

The role requires 5–10 years in accounting, including 2+ years in a senior position, with strong Excel and Sage 300 experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA certification or in-progress is a plus.
  • 5–10 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience with Sage 300 and Power BI in accounting environments.
  • Construction industry experience is preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and modeling.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with accounting software systems (Sage 300, Power BI).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
  • Perform month-end and year-end close, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements.
  • Prepare account analyses and support financial audits.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulations.
  • Assist with tax filings (sales and property tax) as needed.
  • Support internal and external audits with documentation and explanations.
  • Develop and implement process improvements in accounting operations.
  • Assist with ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and best practices.
  • Respond to management inquiries with accurate financial data and reports.
  • Foster a collaborative, results-driven culture within the finance department.

About The Role

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations. This role involves preparing financial statements, managing accounts, and supporting the finance team with audits, tax filings, and process improvements. The Senior Accountant will work closely with other departments to ensure financial operations are aligned with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Perform month‑end and year‑end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare and review account analysis and support financial audits.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
  • Assist with tax filings, including sales tax and property tax, as necessary.
  • Support internal and external audits, providing requested documentation and explanations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of process improvements in accounting operations.
  • Assist with ad‑hoc financial reporting and analysis as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and implement best practices.
  • Respond to inquiries from management regarding financial data and reports.
  • Foster a collaborative and results‑driven culture within the finance department.
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analysis as required.
Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting(CPA certification or in‑progress certification is a plus).
  • 5-10 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior accountant role.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with accounting software (Sage 300.).
  • Construction experience preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, v-lookup, financial modeling).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross‑functional teams
