Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• 0–3 years accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and general ledger transaction recording and reconciliation.
• Detail oriented, organized, and self-motivated.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments.
• Maintains and balances an automated consolidation system by inputting data; scheduling required jobs; verifying data.
• Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports, verifying information.
• Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files, reconciling accounts.
• Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; reconciling accounts.
• Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures, recommending changes.
• Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
• Inputs new business from log, releases, cancellations, commitments, and shipments in preparation for business and backlog reports.
• Prepares business and backlog reports showing the various categories of new business and cancellations. Also prepares the backlog report showing beginning backlogs, new business, releases, cancellations, shipments, and ending backlog. Accountant will find and review processes amongst discrepancies between Syteline and Excel reports.
• Prepares and files all sales/use/excise tax returns within required state deadlines
• Provides support for all A/r & A/P functions as needed.
• Actively support Astec’s core values, mission statement and vision statement.
• Assume other special activities and responsibilities as directed
