Job summary

CHE Behavioral Health Services in the United States is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to own the full-cycle accounts payable process and support month-end close. This role requires hands-on accuracy in a paperless, cloud-based environment.

You will collaborate with the Controller and cross-functional teams using Sage Intacct and Bill.com to maintain accurate financial records, ensure timely payments, and support audits. Remote work is supported.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2+ years accounting experience including AP and month-end close responsibilities.
• Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct and Bill.com.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and general ledger accounting.
• Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP).
• Excellent attention to detail and time management.
• Strong written and verbal communication across departments.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle AP via Bill.com, from invoice receipt to payment.
• Support the month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare journal entries, including accruals and prepaids.
• Perform flux analyses and explain variances.
• Communicate with other departments on invoices, approvals, and budgets.
• Collaborate with Controller on special projects and audits.

CHE Behavioral Health Services is a multispecialty clinical group dedicated to increasing access to behavioral and mental health care and reducing the stigma associated with mental health conditions. Our licensed psychologists, psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, and therapists deliver care in two ways: on-site behavioral health embedded in skilled nursing and long-term care communities, and virtual outpatient therapy and medication management for patients nationwide.

About the Role

CHE Behavioral Health Services is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role owns the full-cycle accounts payable process, supports the month-end close, and serves as a key point of contact for other departments on finance-related matters. The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly organized, and comfortable working in a paperless, cloud-based accounting environment using Sage Intacct and Bill.com.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable

• Manage the full-cycle AP process, from invoice receipt and coding through approval routing and payment, using our paperless AP system (Bill.com).
• Ensure invoices are accurately recorded, properly approved, and paid on time in accordance with company policies and vendor terms.
• Maintain vendor records, respond to vendor inquiries, and resolve payment discrepancies.

Expense Reimbursements and Credit Cards

• Process bi-monthly employee expense reimbursements, reviewing submissions for accuracy, proper documentation, and policy compliance.
• Record and reconcile company credit card expenses, ensuring transactions are properly coded and supported.

Month-End Close

• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and reclassifications.
• Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
• Prepare flux analysis, investigating and explaining significant variances.
• Support the Controller in meeting close deadlines and maintaining accurate financial records.

Cross-Functional Communication

• Communicate with other departments in a timely, professional manner regarding invoices, approvals, expense policies, and budget questions.
• Partner closely with the Controller on special projects, process improvements, and audit support as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2+ years of accounting experience, including AP and month-end close responsibilities.
• Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct and Bill.com required.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, etc.).
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment, with a reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated workspace.
• CPA or progress toward CPA a plus.
