Job summary

SBI Partners is seeking a Staff Accountant for a newly created role on its accounting team. This fully remote position is designed for someone who can own key accounting responsibilities and enable accounting leadership to focus on broader initiatives.

The ideal candidate will be organized, adaptable, and comfortable balancing recurring close responsibilities with technical accounting, acquisition-related work, and ad hoc projects. The environment is fast-paced with shifting priorities.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in accounting (public or corporate).
• Solid understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles.
• Experience with ASC 842 lease accounting entries and purchase accounting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Take an active role in the monthly close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies.
• Support year-end close and external audit preparation, including schedules and workpapers.
• Prepare ASC 842 lease accounting entries and supporting schedules.
• Assist with purchase accounting and other acquisition-related activities.
• Prepare net working capital calculations and analyze key working capital accounts.
• Support financial reporting, account analysis, and research of unusual activity or discrepancies.
• Take ownership of recurring responsibilities while supporting special projects.

This role is designed for someone who can step in, take ownership of key accounting responsibilities, and create additional capacity for accounting leadership to focus on broader initiatives.

The environment is fast-paced, and priorities can shift quickly. The right candidate will be organized, adaptable, and comfortable balancing recurring close responsibilities with technical accounting, acquisition-related work, and ad hoc projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Take an active role in the monthly close, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Support year-end close and external audit preparation, including schedules, reconciliations, roll-forwards, and workpapers.
• Prepare and maintain ASC 842 lease accounting entries and supporting schedules.
• Assist with purchase accounting and other acquisition-related accounting activities.
• Prepare net working capital calculations and analyze key working capital accounts.
• Support financial reporting, account analysis, and research of unusual activity or discrepancies.
• Take ownership of recurring responsibilities while supporting special projects and emerging priorities as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of prior experience out of public or corporate accounting.
• Understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles.
• Experience with ASC842 entries, purchase accounting, NWC calculations a plus
• Hands‑on experience with month‑end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting or public accounting experience
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned accounting responsibilities.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment and managing competing priorities.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.

• Fully remote. Preference for candidates located in the Eastern or Central time zones.
