FirstCall Group in Tampa, FL is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to support accounts payable, accounts receivable, month-end close, job cost analysis, and project financial management.

You will partner with Project Managers to review project performance, monitor job costs, reconcile accounts, and ensure accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based industries.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, and journal entries.

Responsibilities

• Manage full accounts payable cycle, including invoice processing and payment administration.
• Maintain vendor relationships and oversee vendor account setup and issue resolution.
• Manage accounts receivable functions, including customer maintenance, invoicing support, and collections.
• Partner with Project Managers to review project financial performance, monitor job costs, and ensure accurate project accounting.
• Assist with month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Conduct job cost analysis and profitability reporting to inform decisions.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with policies and standards.
• Support cash flow monitoring and financial reporting activities.
• Assist audits by preparing documentation and schedules.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency in accounting operations.
• Collaborate with accounting and operations teams to provide timely financial information.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are currently seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving skills. This role will support key accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, month-end close activities, job cost analysis, and project financial management.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including invoice processing, payment administration, and vendor communications.
• Maintain strong vendor relationships and oversee vendor account setup, verification, and issue resolution.
• Manage accounts receivable functions, including customer account maintenance, invoicing support, collections follow-up, and payment application.
• Partner closely with Project Managers to review project financial performance, monitor job costs, and ensure accurate project accounting.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Conduct job cost analysis and project profitability reporting to support operational decision-making.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Assist with cash flow monitoring and financial reporting activities.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation and schedules.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency within accounting operations.
• Collaborate with the accounting and operations teams to provide timely and accurate financial information.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based industries.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Strong understanding of job costing and project accounting concepts.
• Experience working directly with project managers and operational teams.
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting/ERP software such as QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar systems.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
