Job summary

Luxury Mortgage Corp. (LMC) in Stamford, CT is seeking a full-time Staff Accountant to support the Accounting team with financial reporting, reconciliations and audits.

The role is hybrid in Stamford with occasional collaboration across internal teams and external partners. Ideal candidates have a BA in Accounting/Finance, 2–4 years of accounting experience (mortgage banking a plus), strong GAAP knowledge, and solid Excel skills.

Qualifications

• BA in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 2–4 years of Accounting experience; mortgage banking a plus.
• Strong understanding of GAAP principles.
• Proficiency in Excel, especially with formulas.
• Experience with Advantage Systems, AMB, nCino (Compensafe) and Encompass LOS software.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Process journal entries for financial transactions and loan-related activities.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations and roll-forward procedures.
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist the Controller with improving financial reporting and monthly close.
• Consolidate financials with the parent company monthly and assist audits.
• Reconcile commission applications to LOS and track advances.
• Prepare and manage daily cash report and cash reconciliation.
• Support ad-hoc accounting and financial projects.

Job Title: Staff Accountant

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Controller

Location: Hybrid - Stamford, CT

LMC is seeking a full-time Staff Accountant to join our Stamford, CT team. In this role, you will support the Accounting team with tasks related to financial reporting, reconciliations and audits. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and experience in general accounting operations, financial statement preparation and audit processes. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners and report directly to the Controller.

Key Responsibilities

• Process journal entries for various financial transactions and loan-related activities.
• Perform monthly account reconciliation and roll-forward procedures to ensure financial accuracy.
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations, identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
• Assist the Controller with:
  • Improving financial reporting
  • Completing monthly close processes.
  • Consolidating financials with the parent company on a monthly basis.
  • Auditing year-end financial statements and 401(k) plan.
  • Fulfilling regulator audit requests.
• Reconcile commission applications to the loan origination system (LOS) and track commission advances.
• Prepare and manage the daily cash report and daily cash reconciliation.
• Support ad-hoc Accounting and financial projects, based on business needs.

Qualifications

• BA in Accounting, Finance or related field or similar experience.
• 2–4 years of Accounting experience, mortgage banking experience a plus.
• Strong understanding of GAAP principles.
• Proficiency in Excel, specifically experience with formulas.
• Experience with Advantage Systems, Accounting for Mortgage Bankers (AMB), nCino (Compensafe) and Encompass LOS software.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
