Job summary

Vaco/Highspring is seeking a motivated Junior Accountant to join our finance team in New Jersey. This role is ideal for an early-career accounting professional looking to gain hands-on experience across core accounting functions and business operations.

You will support AP, bank reconciliations, GL, month-end close, and financial reporting, with exposure to various ERP systems and the West Coast sales team's processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent is required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Dynamics GP experience is a plus.
• Willingness to learn ERP systems and adapt to a small-company environment.
• 1–2 years of accounting experience or a strong internship background is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle Accounts Payable and bank reconciliations.
• Provide General Ledger support and assist with month-end close.
• Prepare and run financial reports.
• Engage in additional accounting and finance projects as needed.

Job description

Our client is seeking a motivated Junior Accountant to join their finance team. This is a great opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to gain broad, hands-on experience across both business operations and core accounting functions.

This role offers the opportunity to learn the business from the ground up and make a visible impact within a small, collaborative organization. The first few weeks will involve working closely with the West Coast sales team to understand the full order-to-shipment process and help develop training materials. From there, the role will transition into a variety of accounting responsibilities, including:

• Accounts Payable (AP)
• Bank reconciliations
• General Ledger (GL) support
• Assisting with month-end close
• Preparing and running financial reports
• Additional accounting and finance projects as needed

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) is a plus
• Comfortable learning new ERP systems and technology
• 1–2 years of accounting experience or a strong accounting internship background
• Eager to learn, develop, and take on additional responsibility
• Hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude
• Comfortable working in a small-company environment where responsibilities can span multiple areas
