Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant performs select accounting duties related to the month-end G / L close process, including preparing journal entries and reviewing financial statements, management reports, and schedules. The incumbent analyzes G / L accounts and prepares reconciliations.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

- Prepare recurring financial transactions, reports, and analyses for operating financial statements, intercompany activity, and sub-ledger schedules.
- Analyze specific G / L accounts for assigned companies and cost centers.
- Review journal entries for accuracy and reasonableness, interpret trends, and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in generating monthly financial statements and ad hoc financial analyses.
- Analyze budget-to-actual variances, providing explanations to management.
- Prepare monthly journal entries for assigned G / L accounts, ensuring proper recording and reconciliation.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and MGB policies.
- Perform balance sheet G / L account reconciliations monthly, quarterly, and annually for audits.
- Contribute to the monthly financial close package.
- Participate in pre-close meetings and working sessions.
- Perform other duties or projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required.
- 1-2 years of accounting experience preferred.
- Healthcare accounting or finance experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of Workday GL / ERP systems is advantageous.
- Proficient in WORD and intermediate or better EXCEL skills.
- Knowledge of GAAP principles and standards.
- Strong communication skills and interpersonal tact.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks under deadlines.
