Job summary

Nelson Connects is seeking a Staff Accountant for a contract assignment in Santa Rosa, CA. The role supports day-to-day general accounting functions, including reconciliations, journal entries, cash receipts, and month-end close.

This temporary 3–4 month engagement requires strong Excel skills, experience with balance sheets, and the ability to contribute quickly. Sage Intacct experience is preferred, and Paycom or Bill.com familiarity is a plus.

Qualifications

• Staff Accountant or similar general accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of balance sheets and income statements.
• Experience with bank and account reconciliations.
• Experience preparing journal entries and adjusting entries.
• Month-end close experience.
• Strong Excel skills and analytical/problem-solving abilities.
• Sage Intacct experience preferred; Bill.com and Paycom familiarity a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform bank reconciliations.

Job description

Staff Accountant (CONTRACT)

You are an experienced Staff Accountant who can step in and provide immediate support to a busy accounting department. This is a temporary 3–4 month assignment with a nonprofit organization in Santa Rosa. You will support day-to-day general accounting functions, including reconciliations, journal entries, cash receipts, accounts payable review, and month-end close.

This position pays: $35-40/hour depending on experience

Location: Santa Rosa, CA

What you will be doing:

• Perform bank reconciliations
• Review accounts payable invoices
• Perform account and balance sheet reconciliations
• Review and prepare journal entries
• Prepare adjusting journal entries as needed
• Process and post cash receipts
• Manage prepaid expenses using the Sage Intacct prepaid module
• Manage fixed assets using the Sage Intacct fixed asset module
• Assist with the monthly closing process
• Support the Controller with accounting activities as directed
• Provide accounting coverage and assist with additional duties when other accounting personnel are absent

• Ability to quickly get up to speed and contribute during a temporary assignment
