Job summary

Westmont Living in San Diego, CA is seeking a Staff Accountant to support financial statements, journals, and GL activities. You will help prepare trial balances, review journal entries, and assist with accounts receivable and payable, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.

This role focuses on applying GAAP, supporting year-end closing, and providing strong customer service to Home Office and communities.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• One (1) year experience providing professional financial accounting.
• A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Accounting transactions used in controlling subsidiary account accruals, deferrals, estimated items, sales and collections, closing procedures, receivables, and payables.
• Principles and practices used in the preparation and analysis of financial reports and bank reconciliations.
• Accounting principles, theories, terminology, standards, procedures, and financial reporting, as applied to various accounting systems.
• Auditing principles and practices including statistics and statistical sampling.
• Mathematical techniques and concepts involved in collecting, organizing, interpreting, summarizing, analyzing, and graphically presenting numeric data.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field

The Staff Accountant performs professional accounting work in the development, maintenance and auditing of financial statements, records and reports. The Staff Accountant prepares trial balances and reviews journal entries for accuracy and validity on accounts receivable, accounts payable and other general ledger accounts. The Staff Accountant provides a high level of customer service and support to the Home Office and Westmont Living’s communities and promotes Westmont Living’s Service Promise and Service Standards and performs related work as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• One (1) year experience providing professional financial accounting.
