PJ Helicopters is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The role focuses on maintaining the general ledger, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting multi-state project accounting.

You will interact with cross-functional teams to enhance accuracy and compliance across financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of accounting principles, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business or related field.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to handle confidential information.
  • Public company experience preferred when applying to aviation sector.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts with accuracy.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP-compliant financial statements.
  • Oversee accounts payable/receivable processes, invoicing, payments, and collections.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting with financial analysis insights.
  • Ensure SOX compliance and internal controls adherence.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in accounting operations.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure timely financial information.
  • Participate in special projects requiring financial expertise.

About this Role

P.J. Helicopters is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Staff Accountant. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in maintaining the financial health of the company by performing general ledger accounting duties, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting overall business operations. This role requires a working understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement. This role is a unique opportunity including exposure to multi-state projects, aviation, and public company financial controls.

What You'll Do
  • General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoicing, payment processing, and collections.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing insights and recommendations based on financial analysis.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with government and parent company financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions. Assists in implementation of and compliance with internal controls including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of accounting operations.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information flow and support business operations.
  • Special Projects: Participate in special projects as assigned by management, contributing financial expertise and analysis.

Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $25.00/Hr. - USD $30.00/Hr. depending on experience and qualifications.
