Staff Accountant Job Description
Sunbird (www.sunbirddcim.com), an established leader in Data Center Software, is looking for a Staff Accountant to act as finance contact between various departments and customers. We're seeking a motivated, detail-oriented professional to optimize business processes, manage software revenue recognition, and support the continued growth of Sunbird Software.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review financial data discrepancies, investigate, and assist with necessary account adjustments and corrections.
- Prepare and import monthly journal entries, analyze balance sheet accounts, and generate A/R aging and financial reports for management.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes by preparing reconciliations, accruals, and adjusting entries.
- Prepare and issue customer sales invoices, review and process global credit applications, and coordinate collections efforts to ensure payment timely and enhance accounts receivable performance.
- Process accounts payable, resolve system errors, and ensure accurate coding of employee expense reports.
- Assist with sales tax filings, corporate tax preparation, and audit support documentation.
- Implement solutions to maximize departmental productivity and workflow.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, periodic forecasts, and financial plans.
- Monitor expenses and support cost control initiatives through financial analysis.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues and improve financial processes and reporting.
- Perform ad hoc accounting, financial analysis, and reporting tasks as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
- Three to five years of accounting experience.
- Advanced proficiency in multiple accounting systems and Microsoft Excel, General Ledger systems, and automated billing software.
- High level of integrity, strong initiative and an eager, self-starter mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines with high degrees of accuracy.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (GAAP, or IFRS, as applicable).
Desired Knowledge/Skills
- CPA designation or progress toward professional accounting is considered an asset.
Work Arrangements
- Full-time position.
- Office-based and hybrid schedule.
- Salary up to $75,000.00 yr.
